Tour one of the oldest and most well-known town greens in the nation. Dating back to at least 1638, the New Haven Green has witnessed a dramatic evolution over the centuries, from a Colonial common for grazing livestock to a modern social hub. Starting at City Hall, we will walk the Green and periphery, discussing the original nine squares of New Haven that formed the first neighborhoods, the 1910 plan to redraw the city’s grid, and the urban revitalization projects underway today. We’ll finish by considering where New Haven center is headed over the coming decades.
