Rona Johnston
Board of Directors
Rona’s interest in historic preservation comes from her professional life as a historian and her residence in cities with remarkable built pasts — the nineteenth-century industrial city of Glasgow, in Scotland, where she grew up; the ancient medieval university cities of St Andrews and Oxford, where she studied and/or taught; and the medieval-baroque-modernist metropolis of Vienna, where her research has been focused. Talking, writing and imagining the past and its relevance to the present has long been part of Rona’s professional life as a historian and educator, especially through the last fifteen years, spent here in New Haven.
