This October, the New Haven Preservation Trust and Roche Modern present an in-depth tour of Eero Saarinen's Davis S. Ingalls Hockey Rink (1953-58) and its 12,700 square foot subterranean addition (2007-2009) designed by Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo Associates.

Fondly known as the "Yale Whale," we are privileged to offer a behind-the-scenes look at the facility, led by Wes Kavanagh, retired principal at KRJDA and project architect for the 2007 renovations, and Jerry Boryca, partner at Roche Modern, the successor firm to KRJDA. Our guides will speak to the challenges and opportunities encountered when refurbishing and expanding a landmark of historic importance, not only to their profession at large, but the heritage of their practice in particular. Beyond the rink space itself, we will tour the locker rooms, athletic training areas, lounges, and the new team-entry passageway.

This New Haven Preservation Trust tour is led by Jerry Boryca and Wes Kavanagh and is free and open to the public.
